With so many garment steamers on the market how do you choose which one is the best?
Luckily, I’m here to help. I’ve done the research to give you the choice of the best clothing steamers on the market today. My reviews are honest and I don’t sugar coat it – if I think there is a better choice for a garment steamer or I flat out do not recommend a steamer I’ll say so. My post on steamers at Target is a perfect example of that.
I also own two clothing steamers, so I hope that you will trust that I do know what to look for when purchasing a garment steamer. I want you to be able to purchase a garment steamer with confidence and have it last you for years to come.
So, lets take a look at the best garment steamers on the market today. I’ve last updated this post January 2020.

Pure Enrichment PureSteam Pro

The PureSteam Pro Standing Steamer by Pure Enrichment is all round a fantastic clothing steamer, backed by an industry leading 5 year warranty.
This steamer has 4 steam settings. This means you can adjust the level of steam output for different types of fabrics. With 1500 watts of power, this steamer will output an excellent level of steam and will handle any type of fabric or difficult wrinkles.
The PureSteam Pro comes with a clothes hanger to hang your clothes whilst you steam. There’s built in clips for pants, jeans or pillow cases. A fabric brush is also included.
This steamer heats up in under one minute and is operated by a foot pedal. You can steam for up to 60 minutes with the large water tank (holds 2 liters).
There’s also a section on the back to neatly wrap the cord away when not in use, and small wheels on the back to roll the steamer to a different position if needed.
|5 Year Warranty||No crease tool|
|Adjustable steam settings||No steaming glove|
|1500 watts of power|
Overall Impression of the PureSteam Pro Garment Steamer
This is an attractive looking steamer, with a fantastic 5 year warranty. Adjustable steam settings are incredibly useful for different fabrics. The only thing that would make this steamer better was to include more attachments for the steam head. A crease tool for pleats, collars or pants is a handy tool, which sadly, isn’t available with this steamer.
I wouldn’t let that deter me too much from purchasing this steamer however. It is one of the best steamers on the market. I’ve also written a blog post comparing all the Pure Enrichment Clothing Steamers (including the handheld steamers) which you can read here.

PowCube Garment Steamer

This is a neat little Chinese made garment steamer that will output a good amount of steam with its 1750 watts of power. There are two steam settings to adjust the output of steam for different fabrics.
As with most standing steamers, there’s a built in hanger with trouser clips. The single telescopic pole is height adjustable. With small castors on the bottom you can maneuver this steamer in a 360 degree direction.
I like that the steaming head has a stainless steel sole plate. In my opinion, stainless steel helps with the distribution of heat across the steam head better than plastic. It also feels like a little better quality than entirely plastic.
The downside with stainless steel is it is heavier than plastic, so it can make the steam head heavier on your arms, particularly if you are doing a lot of steaming in one go.
This steamer has a 1.1 liter water tank, to provide steam for up to 45 minutes, depending on the steam setting you are using. This lets the steamer down a little, as it’s around half the size of the Pure Enrichment Steamer above. You can remove the water tank easily to refill, and the steamer will automatically shut off when the water is low.
Looking at the compact design of this clothing steamer, I’m not sure how PowCube could make the water tank any larger, other than making the steamer larger overall.
The PowCube Garment Steamer comes with a fabric brush attachment. This is useful for helping to remove lint, pet hair and fluff from your clothing. Unfortunately, there’s no crease tool included for pleats, trousers, sleeves etc.
|2 Steam settings||No crease tool|
|1750 watts of power||Small water tank|
|Stainless Steel sole plate||No steaming glove|
|No warranty information|
Overall Impression of the PowCube Garment Steamer
I’m a big fan of multiple steam settings and I like that this garment steamer has two. The lower steam setting is 875 watts and suitable for delicate fabrics such as silk, satin, chiffon, lace etc and the 1750 watt setting is best for linen, denim, heavier fabrics or general steaming.
The size of the water tank lets this steamer down a little, as does the fact I could find no information on the warranty.
It is really reasonably priced however, and the stainless steel sole plate is a quality feature. If you’re in the market for an inexpensive steamer this would be a good choice.

Get up to 60 minutes of continuous steam with this best selling garment steamer by PurSteam. The Elite Garment Steamer heats up to 248°F in less than one minute. With an amazing 5 year warranty and consumer reports of fantastic customer service, this makes the PurSteam Elite Garment Steamer one of the best garment steamers for 2020.
PurSteam have gone all out with their accessories for their Elite Garment Steamer. The clothes hanger is expandable and will adjust from 15 to 19 inches. There’s a fabric brush and a crease attachment. Also, a cute little plastic board that looks like a t-shirt – this is for putting under your collars, cuffs, buttons or in pockets to help create a flat base for a perfectly pressed look.
|5 year warranty||Consumer reports of needing to use the warranty|
|Includes all attachments||Steamer may pause whilst heating back up|
|Good customer service|
Overall Impression of the PurSteam Elite Garment Steamer
The 5 year warranty is appealing, however, there are consumer reports that the steamer has stopped working during this time and needed replacing. Those that have experienced issues have also advised customer service has been excellent and their steamers have been replaced quickly.
I prefer the multiple steam settings of the PurSteam Full Size Steamer – except – there is no information anywhere on the warranty of this steamer. PurSteam also don’t include all of the attachments with the full size steamer.
If we could combine the warranty and attachments of the PurSteam Elite Garment Steamer with the multiple steam settings of the full size steamer I’d be happy. I’ve written to PurSteam to try and get more information. It is important to know the warranty before you purchase any appliance in case something goes wrong. I’ll update this post when I hear back from PurSteam.

If I wanted to buy a garment steamer today, I’d scroll back to the top of this post and choose the Pure Enrichment PRO Garment Steamer which has a 5 year warranty and 4 steam settings, which is the best of both of the PurSteam Garment Steamers already combined into one.
AICOK Elite Garment Steamer
I had featured the original Aicok Garment Steamer on this list for 2019, but it’s getting and update for 2020 to the Aicok Elite Garment Steamer. Why? The Aicok Elite Steamer is hotter and has a larger water tank. Here’s a comparison of the two:
The Aicok Elite Garment Steamer (model number Aicok BG525) is also on wheels for easy portability. It has an auto shut off feature if the steamer overheats or the water is low. The telescopic pole can adjust to 4 different height settings and the hose is wrapped in a heavy knit to protect you from the heat.
I like the design and appearance of the Aicok BG525 better than the original Aicok steamer. It also includes my favorite attachments – fabric brush and creasing tool.
|1500 watts of power||Steaming glove sold separately|
|Upgraded heat and water tank size||Only one steam setting|
|2 year warranty|
Overall Impression of the Aicok Elite Garment Steamer
The original Aicok garment steamer was already a very good clothing steamer, so I was impressed to see small updates to the Elite model. A larger water tank is handy if you like to steam your clothes all in one go, and an increase in temperature will help to relax those stubborn wrinkles.
Aicok offer a 2 year warranty on their steamers, which is the most common warranty across the board for garment steamers. The long hose length of the Elite model (1.7 meters) should reach to the top of curtains and drapes with ease.
The only thing that could make the Aicok Elite Garment Steamer better would be to include multiple steam settings. Perhaps we’ll see that in future models to come later in 2020?

This professional, heavy duty clothes steamer by Cirago features a stainless steel steaming head rather than plastic.
It has two heat settings – one for thicker fabrics such as coats or jeans, and a lower heat setting for thinner or delicate fabrics such as silk or chiffon.
The Cirago garment steamer heats up to 266°F and with a large 72oz water tank, will steam for a whopping 80 minutes! Surely your arm will run out of steam before the Cirago steamer does!
The water tank is also removable for easy refilling. All the attachments are also included with the Cirago steamer – a deluxe hanger, pant clips, crease tool and fabric brush. Also, I’m very pleased to see, an anti scalding glove is included with the Cirago fabric steamer.
The only thing that lets the Cirago Garment Steamer down is the one year warranty.
|1500 watts of power||1 year warranty|
|Attachments and steaming glove included|
|Two Steam Settings|
|Large Water Tank|

The Cirago Hanging Clothes Steamer is available on Amazon.
The overall best choice for full size clothing steamer for 2020 is still the Pure Enrichment PRO Steamer. Multiple steam settings and a 5 year warranty make this fabric steamer stand out from the rest.
I’ll continue to update this post as I hear back from manufacturers – we may see some further updates to the list for 2020, especially with the two PurSteam Steamers.
I also haven’t discussed the Rowenta Master Valet Steamer on this list, but will likely add this in the future, as it’s a great steamer from a trusted brand, that has stood the test of time. You can read my post about the Rowenta Master Valet Steamer here.
Clothes Steamer Buying Guide
What to Know When Buying a Garment Steamer
There are three main elements that I look at with every clothes steamer for home use I review. I do this for every steamer, but the importance of the key features of the steamer may change between different types of steamers. For example, I’m less concerned about water capacity in a full size home steamer than I am for a handheld steamer.
When looking for a clothes steamer for home use, keeping these three ideas in the back of your mind will help you compare clothes steamers more effectively. Buying a garment steamer shouldn’t be a complicated process. Simply consider the 3 W’s… wattage, warranty and what else is in the box!
The wattage of the clothing steamer usually equates to the level of steam output. More simply, the higher the wattage the better the steam output.
When I buy an appliance, I want it to last. Finding a manufacturer that offers a decent warranty and is willing to stand behind their product is important to me.
If it’s not important to you, then disregard my discussions on warranty. I will generally always mention the warranty of a fabric steamer, for peace of mind up front.
What Else is in the Box?
Consider what the main purpose of you buying a garment steamer will be? That is, what will you use it for?
If you work in an office or like a pressed look to your clothes, a creasing tool may be a must. Or perhaps you’d prefer to consider a steamer and iron combo.
If you have pets, a fabric brush could be the most important attachment, to take pet hair off your clothing.
If you want to steam your curtains and drapes you may want to consider the length of the hose, the length of the power cord or whether the steamer has wheels to maneuver it around.
If you want to steam all your laundry in one go, then a large capacity water tank may be something you’re looking for.
There are so many variables when it comes to this third point. I usually focus on accessories when writing my reviews. I also will cover water capacity and steam time. Multiple steam settings are a newer feature and appeal to some (myself included).
Having said that, if you found a fabric steamer that met all your needs but didn’t have adjustable steam settings could you simply hold the steamer further away from the clothing so less steam was directed at the fabric?
For this third point, consider ‘What is the most important feature for me?’ and look for that.
I hope this gives you some ideas on what to look for when buying a garment steamer. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
