If you're trying to decide which Rowenta Steamer to buy and are confused by the various models and their differences, you're not alone. I break down 7 different Rowenta garment steamers (a total of 24 different model numbers) to help you determine which Rowenta steamer is best for you. Rowenta Full Size Garment Steamers Rowenta offer several different models of full size garment steamers. These include the compact valet series, master valet series and precision valet series as well as commerical steamers, a pro style range and more. Here is a breakdown of the Rowenta full size steamers. Rowenta Compact Valet Garment Steamers The model numbers in the Rowenta Compact Valet Garment Steamer range are: IS6200 (identical steamers in a dark gray/blue color - 1st image on the left above)IS6201 (same as the IS6200 but red in color)IS6202 (same as the IS6200 but purple in color) The Rowenta Compact Valet steamers are 1500 watt full size clothing steamers, that are a little more compact in design than the master valet and precision valet models. There are two rear wheels to maneuver the steamer around. It is best to move around on low pile carpets and hard floors and for safety reasons, should not be used on super plush carpets (that may restrict airflow around the base of the unit). The Compact Valet steamers include 3 attachments - a fabric brush, crease tool and lint pad. There is one user manual which covers all models of steamers in this range which you can find here. Water Usage: Rowenta recommend using either tap water, half tap water and half distilled water in hard water areas or bottled spring water in their steamers. Click Here to View the Compact Valet Steamer on Amazon Rowenta Master Valet Garment Steamers The model numbers in the Rowenta Master Valet steamer range are: IS6300 (the original Rowenta Master Valet Steamer)IS6301 (same as the IS6300 but purple in color)IS6340 (same as the Master Valet but known as the Rowenta Roll and Press)IS6350 (the cream version of the Rowenta Roll and Press) There is one user manual which covers all models of Rowenta steamers starting with the model number IS63XX. You can find this here. The Master Valet and Roll and Press Steamers are very similar to the Rowenta Compact Steamers. The difference with the Master Valet and Roll and Press models is you get the pull down screen to help support your garments whilst steaming. There is one difference with the accessories as well. Instead of receiving a crease tool (as is included with the compact valet models), you receive delicates steam cap instead. You also receive a fabric brush as lint pad. The need for the crease tool is eliminated with the master valet and roll and press models because of the pull down screen. To make creases, you simply press more firmly against the screen at the area you would like creased (for example, a sleeve crease in a dress shirt). The steam cap is a mesh piece that sits over the steamer head and helps to diffuse the steam as it exits the steamer. It also helps trap impurities from the water and can catch any drips. Rowenta Precision Valet Steamers The Rowenta Precision Valet steamers have six different models which fall under this name. They are: GS6010 (silver steamer with the single telescopic pole on one side and single foot pedal)GS6020 (blue steamer with single telescopic pole on one side and single foot pedal)GS6030 (blue and white steamer with single telescopic pole on one side and single foot pedal)IS9070 (champagne color with double telescopic poles and single foot pedal)IS9100 (silver color with double telescopic poles)IS9200 (double telescopic poles and double foot pedals. Available in 2 colors) I'll break these models down into 2 groups, as it can be confusing trying to tell the differences. Rowenta Precision Valet GS60 Models The Rowenta Precision Valet models that start with GS60 are the models with the single telescopic poles that are positioned on the right hand side as you look at the steamer. They are all 1550 watt garment steamers that hold their included attachments in side, as shown in the image below: The differences between the GS60XX models are the color. There are also a range of accessories available for the GS60 model of precision valet steamers. The basic accessories included are a fabric brush and crease tool, as pictured above. You can also purchase separately an upholstery brush, lint pad, steam bonnet and curtain rod extension. The upholstery brush, steam bonnet and lint pad fit over the head of the steamer, whereas the curtain rod extension is a pole that screws into the hose connector to extend the length of the hose. There is only one steam setting on the GS60 precision valet models. Rowenta also recommend using a commercially available descaling agent (made for irons or kettles) to assist with removing the build up from tap water. View Available GS60 models on Amazon Rowenta Precision Valet IS9000 models The Rowenta Precision Valet IS9000 models include the IS9070, IS9100 and IS9200. The IS9070 could be considered like a bridging model between the earlier precision valet models (the GS60's mentioned above) and the newer IS9100/9200. The IS9070 has double telescopic poles, rather than one single pole, but still has the single on off foot pedal operation and single steam setting. All models have storage for the accessories in the side. Here is a visual of the two: The Rowenta Precision Valet IS9100 is the current model available for sale. This model includes 4 attachments, which are housed in the side of the steamer. They are fabric brush, upholstery brush, lint brush and crease tool. This 1550 watt steamer has a high and low steam setting. As the water tank holds 1 gallon, you can easily steam for at least 1 hour on the highest setting, or if steaming delicates on the low setting, Rowenta advise the steamer can keep going for up to 2.5 hours. Heating up in 60 seconds you will be ready to steam in no time. If you happen to get distracted or the water runs low, the IS9100/9200 models have an auto shut off feature. The shape of the top is good for draping t-shirts, blouses and cardigans over (instead of using a coat hanger), however, with t-shirts or buttoned up items it can be more tricky to get them on and off, as the steamer head hooks on in the same place. After 3 hours of continuous use, this steamer will need to be rested and allowed to completely cool before using again. Whatever you choose, you will also need to descale your Rowenta steamer after 50 hours of use, or if you notice a decrease in steam output. For the IS9000 models, Rowenta recommend using a commercially available descaling agent (made for irons or kettles) to assist with removing the build up from tap water. Click Here to View IS9100 Precision Valet on Amazon Rowenta Master 360 Garment Steamer At this stage there is only one model in the Rowenta Master 360 range - model number IS6520 in black and blue, as pictured above. I really want to love the Rowenta Master 360 garment steamer. At first glance you have the delta shaped head with a whopping 10 holes, the three attachments that are most needed with a steamer and a hanger that will swivel a full 360 degrees. But in reality, when you look at the angle of the steamer head, you will need to have the hose on an angle to aim the steamer head towards the fabric. This could impact the steam flow and cause condensation build up in the hose or steamer head. Speaking of the hose - it is, like other Rowenta steamer models, not long enough, and the biggest consumer complaint is the hose frays apart quickly. At 1500 watts of power, the steam output is 30 grams per minute. This is not as good as the Rowenta Pro Style steamers (see below), but better than the IXEO all in one steamer. There is only one steam setting, and with dimensions of 19.1 inches x 15.9 inches x 14.8 inches, it is one of the larger Rowenta steamers on the market. There is no built in anti-calcification or cleaning cartridge like other models, so you will need to clean this steamer with a vinegar and water solution every 6 months. Overall, the delta head, large water tank, run time and included accessories all make me want to love the Rowenta Master 360 steamer. It's pitfalls however, would soon be a source of frustration, so I'm inclined to choose another model. View the Master 360 Steamer on Amazon Rowenta IXEO All in One Iron & Steamers The Rowenta all in one IXEO is a modern solution to combining ironing and steaming. Although there are 4 model numbers in this range, the most important thing to know is there are only two models. They are: The Original Full Size IXEO models. Available in Black and White, these model numbers start with QR10. Advanced Compact Size. Available in Black and white also, these model numbers start with QR14. The what make up the 4 model numbers is the black and white colors for each. The advantage of a combination iron and steamer such as this, is you can use the board in a vertical or tilted angle to steam clothing, or also lay completely horizontal and use the iron shaped steamer head just like an iron. What I like the most about this steamer is you can disconnect the steaming unit from the base and move around your home steaming. My preferred iron and steamer combo is the PurSteam Dual Pro (view it on Amazon here) as it has 1800 watts of power for a higher steam output. It doesn't have the same portability as the Rowenta IXEO however. Both the full size and compact versions of the IXEO steamer have 1500 watts of power. There is a standby and auto shut off feature for these steamers. Both models of steamers will switch to standby mode after 8 minutes of inactivity. If you don't come back to the steamer within another 30 minutes, the steaming unit will switch completely off. The IXEO all in one steamers have an anti-calcification cartridge on the underside of the water tank. This allows you to use tap water in your Rowenta Steamer, or a mixture of 50% distilled water and 50% tap water. Purchasing replacement cartridges will be an ongoing expense you need to factor in, if buying the IXEO garment steamer. In terms of price, there is quite a difference between the compact version and full size version of the IXEO steamers. At double the price, I really can't see the value in buying the full size version vs the compact version. It is therefore my recommendation to look for the QR1410 model (or a model number that starts with QR14). I've linked to this model on Amazon below. I should also note that if you are in the UK, Australia or New Zealand, you will find this steamer branded as Tefal IXEO. Tefal and Rowenta brands are both owned by the company Groupe SEB. Check Latest Price on Amazon Rowenta Pro Style Professional Steamers The Rowenta Pro Style Care garment steamers are one of my favorite Rowenta upright steamers. Available in two models: IS8420 - the black version without the pull down screenIS8440 - the white version with the pull down screen There are a couple of other differences in the specifications, which I will compare in the table below. I really like that the Garment Pro Style steamers are 1700 watt steamers, that output steam at 35 grams a minute. Combined with the delta (triangle) shaped head, which is good for getting in between buttons, under collars and into pockets, this is a really good steamer. The multiple steam settings are great for different types of fabrics, and the controls for the steam settings are located on the handle of the steamer. There is also an auto shut off feature, lights that will flash when the water is low and when the steamer needs cleaning. It is not without its limitations however. The steam hose is quite short, it's not versatile for steaming curtains, bedding or longer clothes such as long dresses. The design with the hose running straight up the center of the screen also makes it difficult to take clothes on and off the built in hanger. Overall it is by far my favorite Rowenta steamer in terms of steam output, design and minimal footprint. View the Pro Style Steamer on Amazon Rowenta Commercial Steamer Range Rowenta make four models of commercial garment steamers. They are: IS7800 - 1500 watt steamer with auto shut offIS7850 - 1500 watt steamerIS8050 - 1500 watt steamer with onboard storage for accessoriesIS8100 - 1500 watt steamer with variable steam control It appears that these are quite old models of steamers, some which seem to have been around for at least 15 years. I'll be upfront on my opinions about the Rowenta Commercial Steamers, and that is, I wouldn't buy one. Here's why: No information could be found on what makes these steamers commercial quality.The user manuals state the commercial warranty is 6 months.Feedback on Amazon is generally poor (for the models above) and some feedback as old as 2004 with nothing recent.The newer Precision Valet models above have more power and therefore the steam output is likely to be better.Prices vary from around $150 to over $400 with various sellers.Some models on Amazon are no longer listed on the Rowenta website.No spare parts available on the Rowenta website for these models.None of these models of steamers are listed on the official Rowenta Amazon store, so if you were to purchase, you would not be buying from Rowenta. If you genuinely require a commercial steamer, please take a look at my page of professional steamers for the best options. Water Usage and cleaning: Rowenta advise you can use tap water in their commercial steamers, up to 12 grains of water hardness. If your water is harder than this, Rowenta recommends mixing half tap water with half distilled water which reduces the hardness. Which is the Best Rowenta Steamer? I'm a fan of both the Rowenta Precision Valet IS9100 and the Rowenta Pro Style Steamer IS8440. Remember to use at least 50% distilled water (and the remaining tap water) in your Rowenta steamer to help reduce scale, clogging, poor performance and extend the life of your steamer.
